Apple Talked Enterprise With HP Before Signing With IBM
A new report from The Information details talks between Google and HP concerning a Google Now like Android assistant for the workplace. The site also claim that HP approached Apple, before the IBM partnership Apple signed earlier this year.
Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant, can be seen above.
Here is more from The Information:
“The idea is for employees to be able to ask their Android device for company information such as financial data or product inventory information in the same way they do routine personal searches for weather, traffic or restaurant locations. Google search doesn’t currently offer any such integration with corporate databases and software applications, but it’s an area Google has looked at as it tries to chip away at the iPhone’s lead among business customers. ”
According to the report, there were talks for a Siri type assistant for enterprise customers, before a deal with IBM was announced in July. While we will have to wait and see what Apple and IBM are planning for enterprise customers, the companies have committed to working together on over 100 enterprise apps and cloud services for the iPhone and iPad, as well as a new AppleCare service for enterprise customers.
The report also talks about the possibility of Google and HP working together on a Nexus device specifically directed to enterprise users. While HP and Google have been talking about this for more than a year, Google has not yet committed to partnering with HP.
