Microsoft Attacks MacBook Air In New Surface Ads
Microsoft has previously put out ads for the Surface by attacking the iPad and iPad mini. Now, the, the company is at it again. This time, it attacks the MacBook Air in three new ads.
The Surface Pro 3 is pictured above.
Microsoft taking an offensive route is perhaps understandable. While Apple hasn’t done something like this, but rather make an ad calling the MacBook Air “the notebook people love”, poor sale of the Surface despite high marketing costs have resulted in Microsoft losing nearly $1.7B on the device.
The ads, which links to can be found below, claim that the Surface is just as powerful as the MacBook Air, plus bonus features. Specifically, it highlights the Surface’s detachable keyboard, touchscreen and pen, that allow it to be a tablet and a laptop. This has, unfortunately, led to reviews in which people call it the “worst of both worlds.”
Microsoft, due to poor sales of the Surface, have abandoned the plan to make a Surface Mini. This decision has of course caused some embarrassment, and some people have pointed out that references to such a device were even made in the Surface 3 user guide.
Microsoft’s ads are quite negative towards others, attacking both Apple and Samsung. You can view the 3 new ads using the following YouTube links:
