New Apple Homepod Features On iOS 13.2.1 Include MultiUser Support HandOff And More
The Apple Homepod is possibly one of Apple’s most underrated devices. It is seen as the answer to the ever changing voice activated speaker market. This includes the Google Home, and the Alexa speaker. Recently, Apple updated the software and gave the homepod some great new features. These notable new features include multiuser support, handoff, ambient sounds, and sleep timers.
The mutliuser supoort is key as it now allows the Homepod to recognize different voices. So if you talk to the homepod and ask it to play music it will begin to play your playlist. Whereas, if someone else in your household asks it to play their playlist it will automatically start playing a playlist that is tailored to them as it can now recognize different voices and support mutliple users.
Next is the handoff feature. This perhaps is the coolest feature and with it you can hover your iphone over the homepod and it will transfer the music that was playing on your iphone to the homepod within seconds. This is a feature that should have been on the homepod a long time ago, and it is nice to finally see it.
You can now add scenes to the Homekit by saying certain commands and with those scenes it can play audio based on a lighting scene and adapt to the room.
Ambient sounds are new and it lets you play rain stream, white noise, fireplace, forest night, ocean by simply asking siri. This also goes well with the sleep timer as you can now ask siri to set a sleep timer for 45 mins for example and it will continue to play the ambient sound until the timer is up.
Apple has added many minor updates in 13.2.1 and these new additions improve the overall usability and convenience on a daily basis. Be sure to check the Homepod video down below for demonstrations of the new Homepod features.
